Artist Bio

​

I am a painter, fiber artist and art instructor with a studio in Thiensville, Wisconsin. My artworks in oil, cold wax, and mixed media are painted in varying degrees of abstraction with nature and the landscape as primary subject matter. They are created through intuition in an ethereal style.

Growing up surrounded by the forests, lakes, and rivers in Wisconsin formed a passion for wild places in me that is carried into my paintings. The wonder and mystery encountered in forested chasms along Lake Michigan during my childhood is brought into each painting through abstraction. I challenge the viewer to see beyond the obvious, “with quiet eyes”, as an opening to a deeper experience with my art.

I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1992, specializing in Painting and Drawing. Since graduating, I have created a varied career in fine art and business which includes painting in oil and mixed media, teaching classes and workshops, both in-person and online, and a fine art apparel line called Facets Fashions. My latest venture is the creation of an online artist’s community called CreativeJourneys.us which includes the presentation of my online courses and many opportunities for member interaction and participation, as well as private sessions for creative and career growth.
